There is a lot of information out there about Soak Off Gel  (SOG), some good and some not so good.  I'll add my own tips and tricks page as I go along, but why recreate the wheel when there are some amazing bloggers who have already posted a lot of the information?  ;)

Check out the links below for great tips and tricks on using and removing soak off gel.  :)

Chickettes is one of my all time favorite SOG related blogs.  Andrea has a ton of Gelish swatches and a few other brands to offer.  If you don't already follow her, you should.  Right now.  Just do it.  You can thank me later.  :)  And be sure to check out her "Nail Care Tips & Tricks" and "FAQ" sections for a ton of info.

Ten Little Canvases has lots of great gel polish nail art and stamping related tutorials.  Kim features her elegant gel polish designs as well as offers in depth tutorials for gel polish nail art techniques.

Ferretkingdom has some great info on getting started with SOG.  Click the link to go to her blog post about the basic necessities.  Then feel free to poke around.  She's not 100% dedicated to polish on her blog, but she's a wealth of information when it comes to SOG.  I would venture so say that I learned at least 80% of what I know from her.

And finally, check out this post in the Nail Care section of PurseForum.  While it may be called Soak Off Gel Information for Beginners, it covers way more than the basics.  You'll find a good bit of intermediate to advanced info there too.  While you're there, poke around the forum some in the Nail Care section to see swatches of many brands of SOG and regular polish.  Some are color accurate, some are not.  But there are a lot of helpful ladies there who have kindly shared their swatches.

  1. Hi, this looks fun! I was wondering what base and top coat you used. I read that people recommend using Shellac base and top coat with this product. Which would be good for me since I already have them!

    2. AnneMarie, I currently use Kiss base gel and top gel. I've tried several base and top combos and prefer kiss because the base soaks off easier for me and the top coat is super high shine. However, LeChat wears great for me over other bases as well. I prefer LED so I don't have Shellac, but I have found that most gel brands play well together, and I know several people who use LeChat with Shellac base and top on a regular basis.

  2. Hi Michelle,

Can I ask which lamp do you use for SOG polishes?

I looking into buying the OPI Led lamp (I like the idea of two led lamps place on the side to aid the curing of polish on the thumbs) to use, as an alternative to the Gelish 18G lamp, mainly to use with Gelish polishes and a couple of OPI Gelcolor. I'm using the Gelish 45Pro now, but darker colors do not cure as well as the lighter ones.

I would appreciate your thoughts on that. Thanks!

    1. I use a salon edge crescent lamp, but I hear the OPI lamp is a great investment. I would love to have one personally!
