About Me

Hello!  I'm Michelle and I am the voice and nails behind ManicTalons.com.  Manic Talons is dedicated to gel polish and nail art with a scattering of Indie polishes thrown in.  I first became interested in gel polish after years of not being able to keep polish on my nails.  It would chip within hours of application.  Gel polish was my savior as far as my nails go.  After doing my own gel polish for several years, I found myself frustrated by the lack of accurate gel polish swatches available on the web and a blog was born.  I hope you find my swatches and reviews helpful!

As for me, I am a graduate of Georgia Career Institute's Nail Technology Program and am a Licensed Nail Technician in the State of Georgia.  After 10+ years in the field of database administration and marketing, I decided it was time to pursue my passion and become a professional nail technician.  If you are in the Athens area, I would love to meet you and do your nails.  Check out my Salon Services page for available services, pricing and booking.

I actually live just outside of Athens, GA in a small town called Hull.  I grew up here and can't imagine living anywhere else.  Being close to my extended family is very important to me.  I am a mother first and nail artist second.  My two young boys keep life interesting.  My second "hobby" is collecting Boston Terriers.  Just kidding!  But I do love the breed and spent many years working with and fostering for a local Boston Terrier rescue before my boys were born.  I am currently owned by a spoiled rotten girl named Annie Belle.

I am also what some might consider "country".  As a girl in the South, I say "y'all" a lot and find it creeps into my writing when I get excited.  My personal style is very simple.  I'm a blue jeans and boots kind of girl.  My makeup is natural (when I wear it).  My nails, on the other hand, are how I express myself.  Rhinestone nails and blue jeans go together, right?

Welcome to my little slice of the internet!  If you are a brand representative, please email me at michelle@manictalons.com for my media kit.  If you are a reader, please feel free to email me at the same address with questions or suggestions.

  1. Do you know of any dupe product that could be used like this one? You have to buy the whole kit instead of just the stamping gel and I am trying to find an alternative as I have holo powders and pigments already. Thank You, Renee

    1. I haven't tried the stamping gel so I can't say for sure, but I kno many techs have had success stamping with shellac black pool. It might work for this.
