Wood Watch by Jord Review

Hello Loves!  I apologize for going MIA at the end of last week.  I've been a bit under the weather with a horrible sinus infection.  My ears are completely stopped up and I can't hear much of anything.  Its crazy!  I'm finally starting to feel a little better, so I figured I would show you my newest accessory.  :)  I should also mention that I've removed my extensions and have shortened my natural nails again.  I'm starting IBX treatments to deal with some of the damage I've picked up over the past few months, so they'll be short for a bit.  Of course, you'll see the extensions again over the next few weeks as I still have swatches and reviews to edit from before I removed them.  But I digress.

I have this super fun Wood Watch by Jord to show you today.  I chose the Men's Fieldcrest model in Black.  Yeah, I know...I'm not a man.  But I like my watches chunky.  :)  The Jord Wood Watches are really neat because no two watches are the same.  The wood grain makes each piece unique.  Let's take a look, shall we?

The watch came packaged in this really cool wooded box.  I'm a sucker for wooden boxes, so I was tickled pink to see it.  The top slides off and the watch is neatly tucked inside.  The presentation is quite nice for gifts.

This was my first look at the watch inside.  Look at the wood grain on the band!  Squee!

Ok, so it didn't take me long to break it out and start looking it over.  I just have to show you the back of the band.  The wood makes this piece extremely light weight.  After a few minutes, I completely forgot I was wearing it, which is very odd for me.  I'm usually extremely conscious of anything on my wrists.

I also love the style of the clasp.  Unlike many watches, the clasp folds in on two sides, becoming nearly invisible once closed.  Here's a shot of it open.

Of course, I had a hard time taking a photo of my own wrist in my lightbox since I downsized, so here's a cell phone shot that shows the size of the Men's Fieldcrest on my wrist.  Now, I should note that I am not a small person, so this might be a bit large on most women.

You know me...I couldn't resist a little nail art to go with my new watch.  Of course, this one was just screaming for a wood inspired background.  So I started with two coats of Girly Bits Friends Don't Give Friends Fruitcake.  This incredible brown based polish is slap full of shimmer color shifting flakies.  Isn't she a beauty?  This shade is being discontinued, so if you love it you better grab it now!

I then stamped the wood grain image from MoYou London Pro Collection 05 with gold and freehanded a few pink cherry blossoms to add a bit of color.

I think it coordinates well with the Jord Wood Watch.  What do you think?

Ok, now that I've mesmerized you with my photos (lol), let's talk about the watch a little more.  My biggest issue right now is keeping my husband from stealing it.  He loves it as much as I do!  He did mention that the lightweight wood might be an issue for him at work.  He is a supervisor for a beverage delivery company and often has to drive a truck and do deliveries.  He says that he doesn't feel like the watch would survive a day on a truck since he tends to snag his watch while down-stacking boxes.  So I don't think I would consider this to be a heavy duty watch, but it is definitely a nice statement piece that is perfect for wearing to the office or out for the evening.  Personally, I think it is perfect all around.  I adore that it isn't as heavy as metal watches but doesn't cause me to sweat like the plastic options.  And the price is great too!

Be sure to check out the other various Wood Watch Models available from Jord.  With these prices and unique pieces, I'm sure there's a watch for everyone!  Heck, there are a few more that I want now too.  :)  Like the women's watch with the pink face and the cherry band in the widget below.  Just gorgeous!  I just might have to get one for Keith and order myself another too.  ;)

  1. Yayyy, your nails and original shape are back!! I'd never heard of these watches, but am curious to learn what motivated you to place this non-polish related review on your blog.

    1. I like to change it up every now and then. Something different that challenges my writing and thinking. I've done several posts like this over the past two years. Jewelry Candles, Scentsy, Soufeel Charm bracelets, Origami Owl...but my main focus is definitely nails. :)
