Revel Nail Fall 2014 Collection Swatches (pic heavy)

Press Sample
Revel Nail Gel Polish Fall 2014 Collection

Hello Loves!  I have the full Revel Nail Fall 2014 Collection to show you today!  The fall collection consists of 16 new colors - 6 gorgeous shimmers and 10 beautiful creams.  I apologize in advance for the extremely pic heavy post, but when I asked on facebook if you would rather see them all together or in two separate posts, the response was overwhelmingly in favor of this monstrous post.  So here we go!  Ready to take a closer look?

Before we get to the swatches, I should warn you that I am currently pretty loopy on sinus medicine. It isn't my usual brand, and I'm pretty sure that instead of relieving my congestion, it temporarily decreased my IQ by about 30 points.  But the show must go on, right?  ;)

In case you missed it, I previously reviewed Revel Nail Gel Polish here - complete with two week wear test.  Along with the new colors, there have been some changes that I should mention.  First, they no longer come in clear bottles.  To help minimize confusion and reduce improper storage issues, they have switched to an opaque, black bottle.  The second change is the brush (my one application complaint in my previous review).  The brush is fuller now, allowing for a proper three stroke application.  This is a HUGE improvement in my opinion and made this swatch session a breeze.  At only $7.49 per bottle, Revel Nail Gel Polish is quickly becoming one of my favorite brands.

Yeah, yeah...I hear you...shut up and get to the swatches already.  Ok, ok...here we go.

Oh wait...one more thing!  See that banner ad just below my blog header?  Note the Promo Code MANIC.  If you feel so inclined to purchase the entire Revel Nail Spring Line (which I haven't completely swatched yet, but give me time), Promo Code MANIC will make it yours for $25 less than the regularly listed price.  That's 24 bottles of color plus base and top coat for a total of $150 with free shipping.  Math isn't my subject, but my calculator says it works out to $5.77 a bottle.  You can't beat that with a stick!

(Revel Nail should hire me to do their advertising, don't you think?  A good dose of bad medicine and a few southernisms never hurt anyone, right?  Hey, put that stick down.  I promise I'm really going to show you the swatches now.  If you bothered to read all that, I just might have bought enough time for all 32 photos in this post to load...maybe.)

Incline is one of my favorite colors in the collection, which honestly surprises me.  I'm not usually a fan of gold tones, but this blackened gold polish is incredible.  The gold shimmer in the black base takes on an olive undertone, and I love it!  Below is three coats, which I felt provided the best coverage, but in all honesty you could get by with two.

Supernova is a stunning, super dark purple shimmer.  This one screams fall to me.  I found her to be opaque in two coats.  I swatched three anyway since that's my standard as I tend to apply thinner than average layers, but two would have been plenty.  I am super thrilled to report that Supernova cured in 30 seconds in my LED lamp.  Impressive.  Most dark purples like this require a longer cure.

If you like your purples a little less vampy, Revel Nail has you covered with Queen.  This polish is similar to Supernova in tone and shimmer but is a few shades lighter.  I did feel that three coats was best with this one.

Passion is what I consider a classic, pink leaning, mauve cream.  Very elegant and office friendly.  Let me take a second to say that Revel Nail really knocks it out of the park with the creams.  The formula is quite nice, levels well, and application was a breeze.  Passion, along with many of the other creams in this collection, is nearly a one coater.

Bonfire is a muted, burnt orange (?) cream.  I really don't know the best way to describe this one, but it is also a nice twist on a classic shade.  It reminds me of a muted version of Mai Tai

Flynnstone is a beautiful, blue toned grey cream.  Very elegant.  Medicine head is kicking in and I can't think of a good way to describe it, so look!  Pictures!  Oh, this one is an easy two coater for opaque coverage.

If you prefer a little darker grey, Mylestone is perfect.  Also a blue toned cream.  Another loss of words and pretty pictures.  I will say that this too is nearly a one coater.  By the way, that means for the average person it would be a one coater.  Just not for me and my crazy thin layers.  I really should work on that.

Gardner is a super sweet, slightly bright yet classic pink cream.  It is a little brighter in person (my camera hates pinks), but no where near as bright as the photo on Revel's page.  Guess what?  It's another two coats of perfection.

Another of my favorites from the collection, Lava is an amazing red base with golden shimmer.  It is simply beautiful.  I expect to wear this one a good bit this fall.  The base is very much the color of fall leaves, but the golden shimmer gives it that awesome wow factor.  Three coats here, but two would have been enough.

Honeymoon is another brighter shade in the collection.  I can't quite find the words to describe this blue cream stunner, but it would definitely fit the bill if you're looking for a "something blue" for that special day before your honeymoon.  Yes, I crack myself up.  It's the sinus medicine talking.  That's my story and I'm sticking to it.  This is another nearly one coater for me.

Did someone say green?   Matrix has you covered in it's creamy green glory.  There is a crayola crayon in this shade, but I can't think of it to save my life.  Remember, I'm 30 IQ points below normal right now, and I wasn't that high to begin with.  ;)

Ah, Blarney.  Another of my favorites.  Can you tell I like shimmers?  Blarney is dusty green with a silvery shimmer and grey undertones.  Be still my heart!  A perfect two coater.  But yes, I swatched three.  That three coat swatch is a hard habit to break.

Solid is a golden frosty shimmer that easily provides solid coverage (see what I did there?).  I'm not a huge fan of gold - it looks horrible with my skin as anything other than an accent nail, but I fully intend to pair this lovely shade with Supernova in the near future.  Hold me to it in case I forget, ok?  Two coats will do you, but I find a third super thin coat is the ticket (golden ticket?) for smoothing out any streaks in these frosty type polishes.  The two photos look different.  Yes, I know.  The bottle shot has a lot more light hitting it than the non-bottle shot.  In normal lighting, it's somewhere between the two.

Harvest is a stunning, medium yellow cream.  To be honest, I was hoping this one would be a little less yellow sweet corn toned and more corn shuck for fall, but it is a beautiful polish.  This is the only polish in the collection that gave me a touch of trouble.  It's a cream, but borderline crelly.  I found I definitely needed the third coat to hide my stubborn VNL.

Chaste is another that doesn't work so well with my skin tone, but don't let that throw you off.  This cream colored cream polish is quite lovely.  It is also opaque in two and will pair beautifully with a darker base for some freehand florals.  Hold me to that too, ok?

Finally, Fawn is a slightly grey toned nude cream.  This one is also a nearly one coater.  And I'm completely out of descriptive words, so I'll let the pictures do the talking again.

So, what do you think?  Which of these beauties calls your name the loudest?  One thing is certain, Revel Nail covered the spectrum with these additions to their line.  The only thing missing (in my opinion) is a vampy, blue toned red.

So, where can you get your hands on these gorgeous polishes?  In case you missed all the bold links above, you can get them online at www.RevelNail.com.  ;)

And on that note, I'm taking my loopy, medicine head to bed.  Cheers!

  5. Great post. Thank you. I really wish the yellow was a deeper muddier fall mustard color. That's something I haven't seen in gel polish. Sally Hansen complete had a mustard color last year last year I rnp. I would love to have something similar in gel. I will probably get passion. I have lots of pinks so I don't buy pinks unless it's something REALLY different. Passion is a classic conservative pink that is different from anything I own.

  6. Awesome post as always Michelle, I love your blog. Most of the colours look great, but Lava really calls out to me. Shimmers are my favourite, and this just looks stunning on my screen, so no doubt it's even more beautiful in real life. It's on my (ever growing) wish list...thanks for the awesome post.

  7. Michelle, if you have time, could you share how Blarney compares with Couture's Aloe Very?
